Our charity wouldn’t exist without the dedication of our volunteers, who give their time to ensure the group provides riding therapy to our schools throughout the year. No experience is needed as training is given.

Volunteering is so rewarding for all involved; volunteers feel they are giving something back to their local community and supporting riders; who gain a real sense of achievement and pleasure through their contact with horses and ponies.

On a typical day, a volunteer might be involved in collecting the pony and adjusting its tack for the arrival of our children or they may, under direction of our coach, help set out the equipment for use in the lesson.

During the lesson volunteers may lead a pony or be a side walker beside the rider. Some volunteers fit riding hats and complete paperwork about the child’s progress and enjoyment of the lesson, plus comments that inform us such as hat size and stirrup length.

At the end of a session, volunteers return the pony to its stable and remove its tack, whilst others will help clear the arena.
